About

The premise for this book grew out of something eerie that a top bomb tech told me.

Nearly ten years ago, a jumbo jet exploded in mid-air near Kennedy Airport, killing hundreds of innocent people.

Federal authorities issued a report blaming mechanical failure, but Kieran Lehane, a dog handler and the most seasoned detective on the NYPD Bomb Squad, doesn’t believe a word of it.

Lehane is sitting with his Explosive Detection Canine, Georgia, during the last hearing on the subject when a man walks by and the dog picks up the scent of explosives. Shocked into action, Lehane gives chase. He loses his suspect in the marshes of Queens but comes away with a small piece of evidence that may soon prove to be the difference between life and wholesale death.

With the grim anniversary of Triangle Flight 699 bearing down, Lehane feverishly pursues his fresh lead. He will soon have to defy his best friend on the Squad…his commander…the military…and every rule intended to keep a good detective from going rogue. All in a desperate attempt to avert the tragedy only Lehane knows is coming.

Someone has an evil plan to blow up another airliner. And the only person with a chance to stop it is an old cop with a new obsession.

Series Technical Consultant Lt. Mark Torre, Commander of the NYPD Bomb Squad.
